Engine Performance problem
1990 Ford Tempo 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Car runs and drives fine atleast untill it warms up. Then it starts to hesitate and spit and sputter then it dies. It will not start and run untill it sits for a while and or cools off. I know there is fresh gas and I also replaced plugs wires and cap and rotor, before this happened. I also replaced the fuel filter. What do you think it is

Fuel pump or ignition coil/wire or ignition module?Check for spark and fuel/sound of pump runnning after no run condition happens. There are also other internal distributor electrical parts to consider. Once/if you have isolated to a no spark issue, you might want to consider getting a used distributor assembly including cap/wires/coil wire from scrap yard? This is a cheap way to go and I have had good luck this way. Fords are also notorious for coil/coil wire problems. Check ends of wire for internal corrosion. Clean/replace.I have had a car not start even when it showed some spark. Use coil wire to block/ground test. Hold wire with some non-metal object)not your hand!(Forked stick?Tape to piece of rubber hose?) And make spark jump at least a 1/2" gap!If no go then replace wire first and then if no go replace coil.I have had good luck with scrap yard parts to save money. If you cant hear sound of pump or it sounds "funny" (waivers, pitch changes)then it is likely the problem.
