Was told I have a moderate oil pan gasket leak

You should start by getting a Haynes or Chilton manual (if you haven't done so already).

If you have a Y pipe (that huge Y-shaped exhaust pipe under the car), then you will need to remove it. It's not as easy as it seems, because there's a bolt that you can't see.

Once you get the Y pipe off, removing the oil pan is straightforward.
