I'm looking for some help with repairing a rear window motor on a 97 Taurus. Is this something a relative novice can handle or should I be looking for a professional mechanic to repair this? Thanks in advance for any advice.

If your mechanically inclined and patient, give it a shot.
You'll still be able to close the door with the panel off if you run out of time. Worst case scenario is you have to take it in. Sometimes taking pictures can be beneficial as you remove things so you can look back to see how it was prior to disassembly.
We can help if you get into problems more than likely.
