1999 ford taurus[145,000mi]v-6DOHC

Hello, I start up from cold eng. And the low coolant light comes on and stays on for the duration of the drive[the reservoir is kept filled to the proper level].

After driving for 15 min. The temp. Gauge is higher than normal but the car is not boiling. Sometimes the
check eng. Light comes on -when this happens the car runs properly and all gauges read normal and the heat works fine but when the light goes out their is no heat and the a/c seems to be active even when I set the temp in the car to 90 degrees.

Any help would be appreciated!

The brain (PCM) has detected a problem within the engine's electronic controls -to provide you with additional assistance you need to have the OBD2 system scanned for code/s and comeback with it.

I have a 1999 Taurus 3.0 OHV and I cannot get the heat to come on also.
I have just replaced the water pump at 134,000 mi.
The SES light was on and the temp gauge was running hot. I could not find the source of coolant loss but finally saw a trickle out of a weep hole in the water pump.
I ran the car for a while yesterday but when I turn the ac off and turn the heat on it still blows cold ac air out of the vents unless I have the switch set to off. Any other setting and the air compressor still runs.

Coolant coming out of the water pump weep hole is a sign of a bad water pump-sooner or later its gonna come out like Mississippi River and you'll be in big time trouble with major repairs. Get it taken care of
