May be the spring or strut bearing moving. Broken spring perhaps.
IF you open the hood and have someone inside the carturning the wheel back and forth slowly, you may be able to further narrow down the source by listening and watching for noise as it happens.
In particular, place your hand on the strut tower in the engine compartment and feel if it is prominent at that point. There wa a TSB that reflected the Upper Spring seat assembly rubbing on the Sheet metal tower. Basically it called for a spacer being put in. IF it were me and I'm pulling it out , I would install new Monroe Quick-strut assys.
