Cleaning A/C condenser

My 1999, Ford Taurus, 3.0 L, 167,000Km, is overheating when the a/c is on. I have checked the fans, and both are working when the a/c is on. I have been told I might try cleaning bugs and dirt from the condenser. However it is very tight in the front, so access is difficult. Is there a trick to accessing and cleaning the a/c condenser?

You can try removing the cooling fans and washing it out backwards with a hose, that will clean out the radiator as well

I did as you recommended, to clean the A/c condenser on my 99 Taurus, and it works perfectly now! There was some build up of sand and grit, not alot, but obviously enough. The gauge does not move from the center line at all now ! Thank you so much.

Here is what I did: I took a thin stick about 24" long, and 1/4" X 1" and gently rubbed off the grit from the front of the condenser and radiator. About a 1/4 cup of sand/dirt was on the ground when I completed this step. I then took my compressed air gun and sprayed both till no more dust came off. Not alot of grit there, but I guess just enough to plug the fins, because it is perfect now, in very hot weather!
Thanks again!
