Check Engine

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus 4D 78,000 miles. I get check engine light on my car when it cranks. It stalls when I try to crank it in the morning. I have to accelerate a little to make it crank up. Anyway, I took to local auto part store and they determined reason for light is 2 cylanders no putting out. I no abs. Nothing about cars. What does that mean? I noticed if I sit at a light too long the light will flash then when I go it stalls more. Runs kind of funny. Local Estabrook says "engine uhaul" or new engine. Is it necessary. Is there a shortcut. Could it be transmission? What could it be?

When the light flashes, it means the converter is being damaged-DON'T drive it like this! There is something causing a misfire.

What is an Estabrook? A parts store? Why would someone recommend a new engine? Because 2 cylinders aren't firing? Could be electrical, not mechanical. Did they do a compression test? Take it to the Ford dealer for diagnosis, you'll pay more, but get the truth, that's my opinion. You don't have to get it repaired at the dealer, but only deal with reputable repair places.
