97 ford taurus heats up very slowly

my car runs great but heats up very slowly, and when i turn the heater on temp drops to cold very quickly. still get some heat not good heat warm.

First part for replacement, Drain the coolant out, replace the thermostat, flush the cooling system, refill, with fresh anti-freeze.
