2006 Ford Taurus Transmission light comes on

Transmission problem
2006 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic 61000 miles

I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. My problem is the check transmission light comes on and when I reset it it comes back on about 10 miles later. The transmission is very smooth with no problems noted. The transmission fluid was somewhat low and my husband put more in it. Now it is coming on very frequently and esp if I drive the car more than 50 miles or on a very hot day. Any ideas what might be causing this? I haven't been able to get it somewhere to get the codes checked yet. Thanks.

Check TCM for any codes
have the tranny fluids and filter flush and change
