Recently, while at a stop light the car has turned off. It has done this intermittenly this past week, but yesterday, while in mid-turn it completely turned off. The engine light has not come on at all. Please help--I'm afraid if I visit a shop that I will be overcharged and have something diagnosed/fixed that isn't broken.

Hi monique,

There are so many possibilities so you need to provide more info so that we know how to go about.

After the engine stalled, was it easy to restart?

You said engine lights did not show, what about other dash indicator lights?

While driving, was there any signifcant symptoms like power loss, hesistation, etc?

When the car turned off, I placed it in park and turned it on again. There was no hesitiation--Today, as I was driving 30-40 mph I felt surging/power loss and then heard clicking--I pressed on the gas and the car kept going. Right before the car turns off--I see the theft light and the air bag light come on. There are no other inidcator lights that turn on. After today, I'm afraid to drive it. Somebody said it may be the oxygen sensor?--I'm clueless--thank you for your prompt response. Monique

Hi Monique,

Should be something electrical causing the problem.

If equipped with immobiliser, it could be the cause.
There might be some bad wire connections somewhere and this is not going to be easy to resolve.
