My torque converter blew up on my Ford Taurus sending metal shards into the transmission. A mechanic charged me an extra $600 to completely clean out the transmission. Was I taken advantage of?

Actually, you paid for labor. He would have had to take the trans apart. THat is a lot of money, but in this case, I would say money well spent.
