2005 Ford Taurus Steering Wheel Vibrating

When starting to move & up to 40 MPH there is vibrating in the steering wheel & it feels like the front end is out of alignment. Above 40 MPH while it does not vibrate as much it is still noticable. We (three people drive the car) are not aware of hitting any pot-holes or curbs or running over anything that may have knocked it out of alignment. Is it possible for the alignment to go out without having one of the above items happen? Second are there any other possibilities for problem described? I plan on taking the car in to have it check out at 3PM on 20 NOV 08, & since I drive the car the least I would like to have a good idea of what I am dealing with before I go.

Hi there,

This may be a tyre issue, get the tyres checked for any defects, and if OK, have a rotate and balance done, start here.
