My 2005 Ford Taurus SEL drives smoothly, steering is good. When I'm up to 55 mph and above and brake there is a front shaking on the car. The steering wheel does not shake nor is hard to handle; the car just shakes.

Hi there, with shudder under braking and no vibration in the steering, you may have a rear rotor problem, have these check for run out.
