I have changed my own oil for more than 30 years and my 05 Taurus says to use 5W-20. This sounds crazy and I thought for the summer I'd switch to 10W30 -- summers are hot, run the AC more hot can't hardly believe that there is enough shear protection in a 20 weight oil in the summer. Now I feel guilty. Should I change back?

Thx

perfectly fine, if it says to use 5w20 you should use it, but you did no harm using 10w30 i always go thicker in the summer!
