2005 Ford Taurus cruise control?????

i hope you can help. while driving my tarus the car accelerats by its self. and if you put the car in nuteral while driving the engine idle revs up to about 4,000 rpms then you hear a little pop and the idle goes back down. also the cruise control does not work.
