If my car is making a whistle noise and it keeps running hot and my heater doesn't work what might that be?

welcome to the forum, check coolant flow through radiator, if nothing, check thermostat and water pump. Are you loosing coolant?

As long as none of the fluid get too low or get on anything hot, you may be fine in waiting.

I have an 03 ford Taurus I brought from a couple who had it sitting for a while I had the transmission rebuilt and now its overheating I replaced the radiator and fans. But it will only overheat at idle n cools down while driving. It doesn't have a cracked head gasket I have no clue what else it could be. Please help! Thank u

If the fans are running and the thermostat was replaced, tell me this. If you rev the engine to around 2K RPM's, will it cool down? Have you checked to see if the radiator is partially plugged?

I went threw a shop they replaced the radiator so I have no clue n the car is still in the shop now so I can't rev it up I'm getting out tomorrow I have no money to keep handing these people n they still can't fix the problem. Today he said the last option was to take the heater coils out n see if that stops it from boiling but I won't have Any heat n he put blue devil engine seal to deal it in case there's a crack in the head gasket so I don't know where to go from here I put too much money in it just to sale it

Okay, this makes no sense. If the fans are turning on and the temp drops when the engine is revved, it sounds like the water pump isn't doing its job at an idle. Is the belt that turns the pump tight?

my friend has a 2003 taurus /3.0 l engine. It overheats on idle but when driving never gets to operating temp. His mechanic says the head gasket is sucking air yet coolant doesn`t appear to drop

Check if the coolant fan is coming on, if okay try replacing the thermostat-check the radiator if its clogged and also if the water pump is circulating coolant

So it was overheating before the repair? this overheating was not caused by a large coolant loss from the water pump leaking?

Yes and converter was stopped up too, so I replaced it, and still runs hot, ready to tear down engine.

So there is no more coolant loss? Are both upper and lower radiator hoses getting too hot to hold? is the radiator fan working correctly?

Is the noise constant? Does it change when slowing down or accelerating?
If not, and it is intermittent, it could be the thermostat.
It could be the head gasket is blown.
You could change the oil and look for a millky white colored liquid which anti-freeze.

Has the performance of the car changed since this started happening?
Does the exhaust smell like anti-freeze? Any puddles under car?

Next time you get a chance, grab the upper radiator hose after driving. It should have pressure that you will be able to feel..

my vehicle has a very bad problem with over heating. ive checked the thermostat and it works properly. there was a pinhole in a line and we even fixed that. for some reason it acts fine while its parked and running but as soon as you start driving it, it starts to overheat. im wondering if this could be a sensor problem or if there is a problem wrong with the guage maybe. the fans even kick on when they are supposed to. is there any solution that you can offer me? it would be much appreciated.

Remove the distribution box and position aside. See Fig. 1 . Disconnect the fan electrical connector and detach the retainer. Remove the bolt and the electrical cooling fan. See Fig. 2 . To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten bolt to specification

2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

Just before inspection on my car- As i was taking it up to drop off for next day inspection- I noticed the thermostat started going up then down. We had put a new collant tank in not too long ago cuz the old one was leaking and the car overheated never had a plm till this day before inspection so we asked the mechanic to check that out and he said it needed a new fan motor so we put a new one in and now from time to time it goes up but doesnt overheat or anything then it goes back to normal-why does it do that?? He said nothing was wrong with the thermostat.

If its not overheating and the Stat is okay-check and test the coolant temperature sensor and the engine temperature gauge sender could be out of calibration

Heater problem
2002 Ford Taurus Four Wheel Drive Automatic 115,00 miles

I dont know why its overheating and the heater doesnt work?? I have replaced the cracked coolant reservoir I had and replaced the thermastat and it still overheated so I did the radiator flush. Took off the radiator and cleaned it out because it was a little rust from not adding any coolant. Now it still overheats when I take it to 65mph or more. What is wrong with my car?

Have it block and pressure tested-do the block first to pinpoint a combustion leaking into the cooling system or a gas analyzer to sniff for hydrocarbons at the radiator fill neck.

Pressure test: do not do a pressure test if there's leakage at the headgasket this might cause coolant into the cylinders and lock it up or bend a connecting rod if cranked thereafter. The headgasket should be repaired before doing the pressure test.

If the block and pressure test passes check the following: ,Pressure test the Rad. cap,Clogged radiator, air lock in the cooling system ,Fan clutch,Radiator electrical fan, collaspe hoses, water pump.
