My 2004 Taurus makes a loud squeaking noise while it is running. It started out quiet but is now really loud. It sounds like it is coming from where the cam shaft position sensor is mounted. I replaced it with no change.

Are you sure it isn't the serp belt? Does the sound speed up with RPM's?

Yeah I'm sure. The sound is coming form the middle of the engine. I put a long screwdriver on the camshaft position sensor and my ear and you can hear the noise coming from it. What does the camshaft position sensor mount to? The car will also rev up a little on its on sometimes. That just started with the squeak.

It mounts to the right front of the motor.
