Recently when starting the vehicle, it makes a loud growl or rattle noise coming from the rear. The noise is inconsistent and tends to occur more frequently when the car has been stationary for more than an hour or two. The sound is generally more prominent when the car is shifted into reverse, but does occur in Park and Drive as well.

Check the exhaust (including hangers). Is this the problem? If not try to further describe the location of the noise.
