2004 Ford Taurus gas pedal sticking

my gas sticks sometimes around 2rpm. I was told I could just get a fuel system cleaning and it woud fix it but I cant because the products used to clean in I will damage my fuel intake because its made of plastic. I'm not sure what to do.

Could be the throttle plate varnished/gummed -up that's causing the binding also inspect the accelerator cable for kink.
