Hello, I know I'm a few months behind on adding to this message. I have had my taurus since 2005. When I went away to college and the long drive my car would "stall" just 30mins away from home and everything would shut off but if I pressed the gas pedal it all came back on like nothing happened. It has continued to do so for years and I have taken it to several places and no one can seem to find the problem. No computer scanner can pick anything up and the techs have looked everything over. Just recently the car starts dinging and the ABS and check engine like comes on-off-on-off-on-off-etc. The screen reads check brake system and I took it to get it checked and everything is A+. No one knows what is going on with my car and I am worried that it will just not stop one day!!!!!

I'm sorry. They have always called them that. Ask if the GEM can be checked. Different name, same purpose.

Thanks, They said not unless the check engine light stays on and it won't stay on long enough for me to get to a dealership.

Eventually, it will stay on all the time. At that point, you can get it checked.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.
