2003 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 70,000 miles

Why will my car not move forward or backward when in gear and running? Leaving the grocery store today I stepped on the gas and even though I could tell it was getting gas it just slowed down and I had to coast into a parking lot. Upon stopping I put it in park and then moved it into all the gears and it did nothing but sit there. Every thing else seems fine. It just wont move.

Can you feel it shifting into gear? Hopefully something has come unhooked in the linkage dept. Have someone look at it.

Checked your transmission fluid lately?
Just had my tranny overhauled (99 Taurus) I lost all forward gears but still had reverse. Cost $1600
Good luck. Hope it's something simple.
