I change the regular engine oil and filter on the Ford Taurus. I started the car checked for leaks and then backed the car off of the car ramps. I then cut the car off, let it set for a while, rechecked the oil to make sure if was at the proper level. I then restarted the car and attempted to back the car. The car will not go forward or backward or even attempt to. It is almost like the linkage is disconnected but upon checking everything seems fine. I have replaced one sensor that is connected to the linkage and is mounted on the transmission, but did not help. Do you have any suggestions?

You changed the engine oil and filter or the tranny fluid and filter
if tranny fluid and filter I would recheck the filter make sure its secured in place

I changed the engine oil and filter not the transmission. That is what seems to be so strange. I have had no problem at all with the transmission. And it backed up fine before I cut it off to check the engine oil.
