2003 Ford Taurus transmission leak

2003 Ford Taurus Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I took my 03 ford taurus to a mechanic, because I was trying to figure out why is my tranmission fluid leaking out. At first the man at oreily told me to try to put some of that white tape on the lil clamp things but that didn't work. So the mechanic told me that the clamps on the transmission line needed to be tighten up. He did that but it is still leaking. I see exactly where it is leaking from and it is in the line from those lil square model clamps though. Now he's saying that didn't work so i need to get something called or what he called transmission adapters, or is it another name that it is called,cause I can't find any info about them online. could you please help me with this problem..

From the sound of it, I would guess that your cooler line fitting is leaking. If the leak is right at where the steel line enters the transmission, then you need a repair on the fitting. Most usually, the o-ring in the fitting is either cut or just gotten loose from weather/heat/age or whatever. The fittings can be purchased relatively inexpensively from the dealer or can be obtained from a used transmission. Most transmission shops will have extra fittings. Scrap yards are another possible source. You will need a special tool (not expensive) ro release the line from the fitting.
