2003 Ford Taurus Transmission dont shift gears

Transmission problem
2003 Ford Taurus Automatic 120000 miles

Hello I was just wondering what could cause my car to have bad gas mileage and make the transmission not shift into any gears and also the rpms jumped up there. It just happened today and now I can not move the car at all, also someone told me it could be the speed control sensor could that be an option. Thank you

Tranny not shift would be a major factor in the fuel and gas mileage
do you have check engine light on
check tranny fluid
should have it scanned for codes as a 1st step
