2003 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

What will cause the spark plug wires to arc at the distributer? The wires have been changed twice.

Could be a crack or hole in the distributor cap (or, as I suspect you have, an electronic ignition coil pack). I had one arcing when damp when you couldn't even see the crack. It just looked like a tiny blemish on the surface. While it's running, use a spray bottle to mist the area and you should be able to see clearly where it's arcing.
