2003 Ford Taurus check engine light

I replaced the spark plug twice in the last 3 mts. most recently 2 weeks ago the check engine light just came on again this morning, new plug in the # 1 cyl. misfiring, sputtering.

Check ignition wires and check coil if firing too
and if so do a compression
