Engine Performance problem
2003 Ford Taurus Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Our car starts & everything appears to sound alright & look alright, but when we shift gears, the car won't move. The transmission is fine and the motor is fine, we have no idea why the car won't shift gears, the gear shift moves fine as well, we have heard that with '03's that sometimes there are problems with the "kickdown cable", can you elaborate more on this, thanks!

HI there,

The kick down cable wont stop the car from driving, if the transmission is selecting at the box and you have no drive, check the fluid level first, if OK there will be an internal fault in the transmission or final drive, this will have to have some tests run by a specialist to determine the fault.
