MY ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN WE TOOK OFF THE CAP THERE WAS ALL THIS RUST UNDER THE CAP AND IN THE OVERFLOW CONTAINER WHY WOULD IT BE RUSTY AND WILL IT HURT THE ENGINE

A little rust in the coolant is usual .. it could be from the radiator or the heater core .. have the coolant system flushed to clear any blockages and add fresh coolant keep a check on how soon it comes back ?
