I need a new engine for my car. Im looking for a used engine and have not been very successful with finding an exact engine. What would be important for me to look for in an interchangeable engine? Does the year make a difference? Or vin? I have found several with just those differences. PLEASE HELP! Also my car is a flex fuel car, does that make a difference, to any of the above?

I'm not thinking that there were any flex fuel engines in 2002, but to answer your question, call any junkyard and they have a book with what replacement engines will work. And again, you did NOT say what your problem specifically was and may not need an engine.

Last fall I went through a large water puddle and stalled my engine out. After pulling it out, I started it only to hear this load banging in the engine. Upon further inspection, something(i assumed a rod) had shot out of the oil pan. I have a family member thats a certified mechanic working on my car, he told me the engine was blown. Were both having a problem finding an exact engine. Recently he found a 2005 engine, but were unsure if there compatible. What kind of book is it? Is it available online?
