Hear a thunk, thunk, coming from the front as I drive. As I increase speed, the thunks seem to join together to form a droning sound.

Have replaced front struts, etc. Tires checked out okay. Front bearings have been replaced.

Mechanic seems to think noise might coming from the transmission. He is the one who replaced the parts mentioned above, but he doesn't work on transmissions.

What should I do to determine if the trans is generating the thunking I hear?

Have him place the vehicle on a rack in the air and place it in gear so the tires are spinning to see if the sound is still there. At that point, he will be under the vehicle and should be able to locate where the noise is coming from.

Let me know what you find.
