Noises problem
2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic 53,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday my car started making 'knocking' noises. I took it to a repair shop, who first thought it was the pulley/ball bearings on the A/C. After 'fixing' that, the noise is still there. My A/C works, but sometimes I smell 'something' from the A/C vents. They now say it is my A/C compressor & it will eventually I will not have air conditioning. Estimate is $845 + tax. Does this sound correct and is this a good estimate?

I would have another opinion
they did get the 1st shot at it and misdiagnose the noise
AC compressor could be an expensive item to replace
