I have a situation where my air compressor is making a loud scraping sound when I turn on my defroster or air conditioner. I know it's probably gone bad and I will have to replace it but I was wondering if I unhook the plug that's directly on the compressor (being that its winter time and I know longer need cool air) will it still be able to run properly and will the heat and defrosters still work?

Disconnecting or unplugging the AC clutch on the compressor will for sure buy you more time
do disconnected until you can have it fixed or replaced
good luck
