2002 Ford Taurus A/C Blower

Our fan only works on Hi. I have replaced the resistor and this corrected the problem for a day. I have a replacement resistor but I don't want to install this one if the same problem is going to happen again. Is there a bigger problem that is causing the resistor to blow?

check for a faulty blower motor relay, in the central junction box (under left side of dash)
