need to know if you can tell whether the strut is bad when you replace the springs on rear?

Hello,

You can check the struts by pushing down on the vehicle at the corners. If the vehicle only bounces a few times then it is most likely good. If the vehicle continues to bounce then most likely it is bad. Also you will need to inspect the strut for damage, rusting out and or leakage.
