Car was hard to steer and we looked under the hood and found the s belt was broken. What could have done this? About how much would it cost to have this fixed and how long would it take? Also does it have to be towed to the repair shop?

Hello,

Due to age and normal ware and tare the drive belt can deteriorate and brake.
Keep in mind that without the belt none the alternator will not charge the battery the water pump will not circulate the coolant, which can lead to overheating of the engine.
It is best to tow the vehicle to prevent form further damage.

The belt can be changed easily on this vehicle. Those belts typically cost $20.00 to $25.00. As for the installation it will depend on the shop as they all have different rates.
