Hi

On trying to shift gears this morning I found that the automatic gear shift was moving right across the slots (D,P, R and N) without sitting in any of the slots. As a result the car is not moving at all. I have successfully driven the car till last night. Could it be that the entire transmission system has failed suddenly and needs overhauling or just a tooth broke somewhere or maybe the transmission fluid drained out (I did see drops of liquid leaking from underneath the car for the last couple of days but am not sure if that was transmission fluid. I however have checked that the fluid did not have any odour). Do let me know the expected cost of repair. Is it a good idea to take it to the dealer in these cases or any local garage which does transmission is good enough? Thanks ....
