2001 Ford Taurus how & where to add freon

Air Conditioning problem
2001 Ford Taurus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

We bought the freon but the adapter that came with it does not fit the plug that we see by the AC unit. We were told all AC adapters are standard size so where on the taurus 2001 is the spot to attach to add the freon.

Sure its standard size
and you are trying with the high side
look for the low side

large diameter hose leaving the ac pump and going to the dashboard

usually has a light grey/black or blue cap on it.
