2001 Ford Taurus heater problem

I recently changed out the thermostat and performed a prestone super flush on my cooling system. The heater still doesent get very warm but does get a little warm as long as i have it blowing out the vents. When i switch it to defrost it gets cool and wont defrost the windshield. What coould this mean?

Need to isolate and flush heater core
make sure you plug the bypass hose by the fire wall
