there must be some type of door sensor swith, the interior dome light stays on and the panel says the door is ajar by displaying all the doors open. also the handles stay up when you open the vehicle and in order to close the doors you have to push the handles down

Spray WD40 inside the door latches and open and close the doors several times each until the light goes off. Start at the drivers door and be generous with the WD40. You may have to open and close the door a ton of times before the light goes off. If the drivers door doesn't turn the light off, just move on to another door, spray the WD40 after a few door closings. Just keep it up one door at a time, you will find the right door eventually. Do ALL the doors anyway.
