Recently my 2001 Ford Taurus started idling rough and felt like it was missing when accelerating. I had a diagnostic test done and was told that there was a blown head gasket and that the Camshaft synchronizer had failed. I was given a repair estimate of $2000 to $3000! My son who is a heavy equipment mechanic said he would work on it. When he took the head gaskets off he said they didn't look like they had blown out, he had the heads magnafluxed and there were no cracks. So he installed new gaskets and put it all back together along with new spark plugs and a new camshaft synchronizer. It ran good for a few miles and now the check engine light is back on and it is idling rough and missing upon acceleration.
