2000 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I just recently purchased a 2000 Ford Taurus and the radio don't work. I can turn it on and hear static but it won't pick up any radio station. This car is installed with a 6 disc cd changer but the piece that you insert the cds in, is missing. Could this be causing my radio not to function correctly?

Radio should work when you select AM or FM
if not remove and check antenna if connected
