Transmission problem
2000 Ford Taurus 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I don’t know much about cars, as my husband takes care of these things, but as he is out of town I figured I would try and get to the bottom of the problem.

First of all I have had not problems with the car this is the first time it has happened and I am stumped.

I went to turn the car on and it would not start, took the key out of the ignition but the battery lights and stuff stay on. So I guess the car is on, but it wont start, and I am unable to turn it off even thought the key is no longer in the ignition.

What could the problem be, and is it something my husband would be able to take care of (he is good when it comes to working on cars) or would we need to take it in? Better yet would I be able to fix this problem?
