Car sputtered and stop at highway speed. Now it will not crank. It turns over fine seems to be getting fire and gas. Plugs were covered with gas. I checked for fire and saw spark on plug. Can timming be off and reset or would it be from chain or belt slip or break

Timing could have skipped, you may also have a problem with air flow, check mass airflow/intake air temp sensor, and check fuel filter, you did, if there is a lot of fuel on the plugs, its sounding like the fuel is not getting burned, so there are several things that need to be verified, that is good spark, good fuel, good air. And compression, which can mean timing chain.
