2000 Ford Taurus defroster

my problem is when i turn on the defroster both cooling fans come on and the air coming out of the vents is not very warm i have flushed the cooling system and changed the thermostat, so i am going to flush the heater core, the engine temp is good. just the cooling fans coming on are confusing me

The cooling fans are supposed to come on because the A/C compressor is also coming on to remove moisture. It has nothing to do with the heater temp.

With the engine at full operating temp, locate the 2 heater hoses where they go into the firewall and feel them to see if they are both hot to the touch. If they are..........

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

ok i understand but i thought that one fan comes on when the compressor comes on and the other comes on when the engine temp reaches a certain level

No, they are 2 speed but they run simultaniously.

I'm not says there couldn't be something wrong with the speeds but I doubt it has anything to do with your heat problem.
