I have a 2000 Ford Taurus OHV engine 3.0 Sometimes when you drive it the engine misses throughout driving and then sometimes it rides great. We've replaced the fuel filter, the spark plugs and gapped them correctly and we've put new spark plug wires on it, My father in law said it may be in the ignition coil. But then I had a mechanic tell me that if it were the ignition it would do this all the time. Can you please help?

Do u have a check engine light on and or blinking?
I would also suspect and check the coil very common for it to fail
check if you have any misfiring codes
good luck

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and it sometimes misses throughout driving. The check engine light is not on but we checked it with our diagnostic tool and it read that the camshaft position sensor was bad. So we replaced this and reset the computer. The tool still has not read nothing else. It says there is nothing wrong with the car. The only time it misses is when you ease the car around. When you have a good bit of speed up it wont do it.
