2000 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

2000 taurus SE DOHC. Where do the wires go that come of the break switch? Green with Red stripe, and Red with green stripe. Car would not go into gear and the break lights will not work. Noticed that the wires coming off the break switch got wraped around the steering column shaft and got "pulled" out of something it looks like.

LT green/red wire comes from the fuse box and fuse #217 its 15A fuse and goes to brake light switch
Red /LT green should have power when steeped on the brake coming from the switch
