Past couple of weeks there has been a noticeable clank and lurch when going from Park to Drive. Once i"m driving, it's ok. Today, after starting the car, it made the same clank noise but would not go into gear. Wouldn't move. A few weeks ago i had a motor mount replaced and i think they may have had some problems. Could my current problem be something other than the transmission?

Is the check engine light on? Also sheck the fluid level.
First thing you need to do is have the codes read, Autozone does it free, Post the results with the code number(s). Even if the service engine light is not on, there should be freeze frame data stored.
If it won't make it to Autozone, buy a cheap scanner, they can be had for 30-40 dollars, a good investment, since they cover all cars sold in the USA from 96 on...
If the light is blinking, it means possible damage to the converter...service it right away!

If it wont go into gear, it may have broken an axle, but that is pretty rare, Does it make any noise at all? If it is quiet and wont go into gear it may have broken something internal in the trans. Double check that the shifter cable is still hooked up at the trans and that the arm is moving when you put it in Drive
