1999 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I bought my Taurus with a smashed back end. I took a look at it and the trunk won't open and I was told that the rear bracket was broke almost in half

How can I fix it?

Can I just replace the rear bracket so I can pull the trunk back into place. The lid is fine its just the bottom part that needs to be fixed

From what I see, you have two choices. First, (and most expensive) would be to have the entire support removed and a new one welded into place. However, it looks like a clean break. What I would suggest is to have the part straightened and weleded where it broke.

Have you seen any body shops?

Good lord! Did you tell them you didn't want a new car just yours fixed? Have it looked at another shop and tell them what you would like done. See how they respond.
