1999 Ford Taurus "groan" when turning

I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE w/109,000 miles - lately it has been making a pronounced 'groan' or 'torqued' sound when I steer to the right. Also, have a loose belt in engine compartment. Does this model year have any significant recalls or continual belt problems?
