1999 Ford Taurus Interior lights

The interior lights won't shut off after the ignition is shut off and all the doors closed. Neither do they turn off after starting the car. The icon of the car with doors open is lit on the dashboard even though all doors and trunk have been checked.

I had the same problem in my 97. My interior light stayed on all the time and the dash icon showed my doors and trunk was open.I got a can of "wd-40" and sprayed the heck out of the doors. First I opened the doors (one at a time) and sprayed inside the door were the door latch is. That was two years and from time to time I will spray inside the doors. That was two years ago.
